Women’s Stories for Change aims to capture the experiences of women we work with as part of the 4-year (now in its second year) Manchester Maya project. We found out that there was ignorance about the support available for victims of abuse in the UK especially in the migrant communities, which meant women did not seek help. Therefore we hope as women and girls share their experiences and talk about the support available for those who say no to abuse and speak out, it will empower more people to speak out.
Women’s Stories for Change will be a 12-months project that will empower women with storytelling and media skills through weekly sessions and quarterly events. The project will enable participants understand the world of social media and how to share their experiences (anonymously or not) with others.
